What's the #1 mistake people make after being arrested for armed assault?

The number one mistake that I see people make in assault cases, particulary assault and battery with a dangerous weapon cases, is to think that the authorities are going to see things the way they do. In other words, the defendant says "well I was justified because he said this and he said that and he got me angry and blah, blah, blah". Well the fact is, it's still a crime. But if they don't take it seriously from the beginning, they don't hire the right defense attorney to represent them seriously. And so that is the number one mistake, not taking it seriously, not hiring counsel and basically making all kinds of statements that end up hanging you down the road. Should an attorney look at my employment agreement?

I believe that it is always important to hire an attorney or have an attorney review your agreement. Do you need to pay an attorney to review your agreement? Not necessarily so. But it would be my recommendation that you find an attorney, whether it be a friend or a family member, to review the language that you don't understand and have it explained to you. If you can't find someone it's worth it to spend a few hundred dollars and have an attorney review that agreement for you so that you understand it its entirety. Because many, many employees and former employees come to me and are shocked at what they had signed years and years ago and had no idea what they had signed and in fact - and in many cases hadn't even read it much less had it reviewed by an attorney.
